Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Years with Win Over New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has tallied five scores during the current campaign
The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they overcame division rivals the Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
Quarterback Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
Victory bolsters the New England's lead at the top of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had scored first at their home field with QB Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the New York's initial series
But the home team responded in the second period as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He wants to be excellent."
Fields found Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side sealed the victory
